islamBeurskens is a critic of today´s society. Years before 9-11 he predicted that the conflict with Islam will define this century. It is more than a clash between cultures. It is a conflict between faith and no-faith, between a culture which defines itself on the basis of faith and a culture which defines itself on the basis of no-faith. Between a culture in which the inner man is central and a culture in which his chemical structure is central. Consumption and competition or faith and surrender.

In the analysis of that conflict Beurskens is on the side of Islam -and the other world religions- and he calls for other people to do the same. That is why he is an opponent to the assimilation-policy of the Dutch government at the moment. The totally different human being needs to be cherished and treasured. As opposed to that the ´CNN-internet-world citizen´ is a robot and needs to be rejected.

That is why it is not curious that Beurskens medical practice has an above average number of Muslims. They might find themselves better understood and accepted. That is also why Beurskens has chosen for a small scale practice. Large health institutions are for him a symbol of the estrangement which characterizes our society.
