Beurskens speaks about spiritual crisis out of his own experience. It felt like the end of the world at that time, some thirty years ago. Looking back it has been a life-saving event, because it has brought him closer to the Eternal One. Belief in Christ, handed down to him by catholic tradition, showed him the road to hope.
In the course of time he came to study texts from other world religions, like Buddhism and Islam. They were not only a consolation, but they also helped him to deepen his own belief in God. Texts like the Hindu-Upanishads or the Christian Imitation of Christ were a joy of recognition, because they all speak about the same crisis and because they all reveal the meaning of it. Life, suffering included, begins and ends with the mystery of this crisis.
